Nature morte #3
Digital Installation 2000
Computer, electronics, monitor Ø ± 60 cm, wood, sound.
On a pedestal of app. 1.30m high is a video monitor. The image
you see is a still live with a cup of coffee, an ashtray with a smoking
cigarette, part of a lighter and a cigarette-case. These elements are
on a table with a romantic print of flowers and leaves.
When a visitor approaches the work, the cup starts to tremble with a
jingling sound, as if the visitor causes a small, local earthquake.
Here eddie d uses a kind of 'closed interactivity where the visitors
unknowingly and unintentionally influences the unfolding of the work,
however they cannot change the events or work itself.
It is a work in the series
of digital installations in which d examines the still live as a
concept, with
video as medium.
